About

By creating greater access to educational opportunities, and presenting with the arts in mind, Public Hives inspires community members to learn alongside one another while observing and learning from other communities: bees!

PUBLIC HIVES is run by arts administrator + beekeeper, Danielle Bender, in collaboration with beekeeping mentors and mentees Natalia Menocal, Lacey Bray, Derek Gabaldon, Christian Acevedo and Gabriela Rosado.

This project was made possible by the 2017 Public Space Challenge and Community Grants, both programs of the Miami Foundation. PUBLIC HIVES is also supported by and 8 80 Cities. Support for Public Hives is provided by Locust Projects through its WaveMaker Grants program, which is part of the Andy Warhol Foundation’s Regional Regranting Program. WaveMaker Grants is supported by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, and Wells Fargo.
